About my consultancy services

I am working as research manager of the global development unit at the Research Institute of Work and Society (HIVA) linked to the University of Leuven in Belgium. After having been a steward of the outcome mapping learning community (2008 to early 2012), I am now an advisor to the stewards. I support organisations in the development and implementation of their planning, monitoring, evaluation and learning (PMEL) systems using outcome mapping and other complexity oriented methods. I also provide training in outcome mapping and complexity oriented PMEL. I work in English, French or Dutch.

OM experience

My practical experience with outcome mapping goes back to 2005 when I was programme coordinator for the Flemish Office of development cooperation in Zimbabwe responsible for national education programmes. Since then I have assisted many other organisations in applying outcome mapping. Some examples include: World Solidarity (Cambodia, Rwanda, Colombia), International Law Organisation (ILO), CARE Niger, Care Nepal, Light for the World, AIDES (France), European Structural Fund (ESF), F3E (France); Frère des Hommes (Rwanda), Cordaid (Colombia), IDRC (Kenya, Zimbabwe, Zambia), Save the Children (Myanmar, Lebanon, Syria).

Interest in OM

I am interested in OM because it provides a very useful project management approach which is learning based and actor centred. It also promotes active stakeholder participation in processes of planning, monitoring and evaluation. OM is therefore well adapted to deal with procesess of complex social change that are often not easy to predict and which do not follow a linear path.
I am also interested in OM because its very adaptable to your specific needs. In addition, you dont need to use all the steps and tools of the methodology. it is very possible to only use those parts or concpets that suit a specific context. Furthermore I am interested in OM because it allows you to enrich other planning, and monitoring approaches such as the logical framework, that are often made mandatory by donors.
