Summary: |
We used Outcome Mapping to document the impact of a substance abuse and violence prevention program, the Maskwacis Life Skills Training Program, which was culturally adapted and implemented in the Maskwacis community. Maskwacis is a First Nations community in Alberta, Canada. This project was a community-based participatory research project completed in partnership between Maskwacis community members and researchers from the University of Alberta Department of Paediatrics. |
Why was OM chosen? |
In order to document community change and complement our existing, more conventional, evaluation tools. |
How was OM used? |
OM was used retrospectively to document changes in community boundary partners. |
What was the experience of using OM? |
Our experience was extremely positive. We built community capacity to engage in research and evaluation, as well as academic capacity to measure community change. Outcome Mapping was also conducive to building relationships and understanding between community and academic partners. |
