Summary:

The principles of OM has been used to implement a 3 years strategy of the organisation at all levels (board, staff and local groups) and hopefully it will also enable monitoring.

Objectives of the intervention:

In an organisation that have had, and seen benefit of having, a clear vision, mission and core values for more than 15 years the next step was to discuss a strategy for the next 3 years and then implement and monitor it at every level of the organisation.

Why was OM chosen?

It was chosen after seeing it in action in another organisation and having had the opportunity to participate in the OMLC Workshop in June 2022.

How was OM used?

Not every aspect of OM was used. Need for a soft and gradual application was seen as important. As the organisation already had a vision and mission statement and a strategy, OM was used for implementation with the boundary partners.
Boundary partners was identified together for each staff, local group and board and outcome challenge and progress markers where written for each combination. Monitoring is being enabled.
Strategy map has not been directly addressed yet.
Operational practice has been addressed as an organisational outcome with progress markers.

What was the experience of using OM?

We are still in the process of making everything work down to grassroot level but a combination of clear objectives from the governance level and the higher management levels has helped to implement the proposed intervention in more than 80% of the organisation.
Clearly there is resistance in "older" staff and there is lack of time for some of the volunteers responsible for implementing it at the local city groups level.
